CLIPP in brief The CLIPP plays a variety of roles and provides synergy to support psychosocialresearchers and users of this research in all aspects of their work. The CLIPP brings together five types of expertise under one roof:
The CLIPP provides access to up-to-date information for producers and users of psychosocial research. The Center also inventories available documentation on the main research findings, analyses of reliable existing data and psychosocial health programs. In its research “watch”, the CLIPP updates the psychosocial information that is available to the community. By providing access to liaison tools, the CLIPP serves as a common communication interface for psychosocial research producers and users. These tools include online discussion forums, expert seminars, an electronic press review, series of thematic workshops for researchers, practitioners and policy-makers, and, of course, a Web site. In addition, the CLIPP is the media contact for critical psychosocial issues. The CLIPP can refer public relations professionals, content researchers and journalists to the best resources for appropriate, up-to-date information. 3. Knowledge Acquisition and Transfer The CLIPP’s knowledge acquisition and transfer activities focus on the development and deployment of tools and programs based on reliable psychosocial research data. The aims of these activities are to inform the community, heighten awareness of the diverse problem areas, and, data permitting, provide training with the most efficient tools for prevention and intervention. More specifically, the CLIPP fulfills its knowledge transfer function by:
4. Training for Future Professionals As a point of convergence for psychosocial research, the CLIPP is an internship setting of choice for future knowledge-transfer professionals, specialists in information monitoring and management, master’s and doctoral students in evaluation research, and post-doctoral interns. The Center also offers researchers a vast array of training tools on knowledge transfer and simplifying scientific information. Assessment of knowledge-transfer needs is one of the CLIPP’s essential roles. In fact, it is by adapting to these needs that the CLIPP can offer the best possible support to psychosocial health practitioners. In order to evaluate the impact of the knowledge-transfer activities organized in collaboration with its partners, the CLIPP has developed useful evaluation grids; the development of better tools for psychosocial realities can only be achieved through assessment of the impact on society of the circulation of such knowledge.
